Joseph Stoddard never lets reality stand in the way of a good painting. This has been his goal for the past 20 years. Joseph wants people to get an emotional response from his paintings and sketches. To be charmed and surprised by his interpretation. Joseph loves to work outside, committing directly to paper the sights and sensations he experiences. The work is loose and sketchy. Joseph’s current project is a series of images of downtown Los Angeles done in a loose sketchy style. Joseph has two books currently published: Pasadena Sketchbook and Redlands Sketchbook and is working on a third, due in the summer of 2008.
